Text description provided by the architects. LEMA Residence is developed in a mixed structure to take advantage of the topography, prioritizing the location of social and private programs on the same level. The unevenness of the terrain allowed the garage to be placed at street level, while the house was constructed at a higher level and as a single floor, accentuating the architecture and allowing for a more integrated and expansive space for the development of environments.
Along with the terrain leading to the main entrance, a light and smooth staircase descends onto a delicate and mesoscale landscape. It delineates a path connecting the observer to the elevated volume and entrance to the dwelling, which is adorned with a reflective water surface clad in natural stone.
From the very first moment, one enters the house, revealing the path and highlighting the breadth and complementarity of the social spheres. It is completely open to the outside, transforming the indoor and outdoor social areas into one large continuous terrace, embraced by the landscape and pool area. Conceptually, the place is organized by a large central void, the social 'heart' of the house, and two more solid and robust volumes, which accommodate the bedrooms and service areas.
The social areas also attract attention due to their double-height ceiling designed from a light metal roofing system that anchors the concrete structure construction and allows more light into the rooms, reducing the need for openings and leaving the facades cleaner and more elegant.
On the outside, ribbed metal panels ensure greater uniformity of the front façade when closed, providing the ability to open to let in light in environments such as the home theater and office. Inside, the finish consists mainly of neutral and natural tones, coordinated with the metal panels, concrete and wood used in the ceiling and furniture.
Finally, the private area, comprising two large suites and a master suite, has been placed in the side and rear portions of the property to ensure privacy for the residents. Slatted metal panels provide unity and enhance the comfort of the wings when closed. When opened, they allow integration with the large social and outdoor areas, essential to the LEMA Residence project.
