Text description provided by the architects. Designed by Rabih Geha Architects for Gastronomica, MILK BUN Qatar is a bold way to evoke tradition and represents the company's third outpost in its fast-casual, technology-oriented concept. Three pillars underpin the MILK BUN brand and help it deliver on its promise to deliver the best fast food of the future: an attractive menu and accessible access to their signature savory and sweet varieties made to order, and a seamless user experience centered around fast-track technology; And a raunchy and sexy look that addresses the younger generations
The multi-award-winning architecture and design studio has been called upon to enact the third chapter, creating an avant-garde experiment that disrupts the counter-service scene. Rabih Geha Architects did not follow any particular hierarchy in designing the Doha branch of the restaurant chain. They gave equal weight instead to each item echoing Gastronomica's overall dining experience, a principle forged by the owners and operators of MILK BUN.
Located in the Place Vendome Mall in Doha, MILK BUN Qatar announces itself with a grand façade behind which the pink-tinted concrete walls and ceiling cascade into concrete floors. The bakery can be distinguished with a three-dimensional window, highlighting the brand's freshly baked cookies and cakes made throughout the day.
The restaurant includes an indoor dining area of 376 square meters and a terrace of 160 square meters, which can be accessed through the restaurant or independently from the side entrance. Both outfits share the same look and feel with the addition of greenery and pink umbrellas on the porch.
Inside, Rabih Geha Architects emphasized ceiling height by fragmenting the wall finish into two skins, a smooth concrete upper shell, and a curved concrete tiled lower shell. Two concrete pillars have been painted to display MILK BUN totem boxes and create a winding path inside the restaurant or outside on the terrace. A series of cylinder-shaped lamps mounted on the ceiling echo the columns on the floor.
Department of interior design for two restaurants, paragraphs, dinners and food industries. Herringbone pink leather banquettes designed for MILK BUN Qatar by Rabih Geha Architects make up the bulk of the seating, complemented by metal tables, black terrazzo and Torno chairs from + Halle.
The dessert table is decorated with iridescent hologram tiles at the base and highlighted by a linear lighting fixture above. The load counter is made of concrete and separates the dining area from the busy kitchen which is clearly visible to the rear. After placing their order through self-service kiosks parked at the storefront's pole, customers get to try chicken, burgers, fries, sides, and more as they're prepared from scratch behind the burger counter or through a glass window at the entrance.
The MILK BUN identity is plastered across the entire space as the dominant pastel pink is offset by elegant neutral-toned concrete and finished with leather and black steel details. Together they represent the vibrant essence of the MILK BUN brand and convey Gastronomica's core values of authenticity, quality and transparency.
