Architecture is basically a container for something. I hope they don't enjoy a cup of tea as much as they enjoy tea. — Yoshio Taniguchi. The project is located in Xiangjian Village, Lin'an, Hangzhou, and it was an important intersection of the ancient Huihang path. At that time, it was a meeting point that was welcomed by all the nearby villagers, hence the name "Xiangjian", which means to meet or meet. CHIN INN is a "shelter" in the mountain and the countryside. It is neither luxurious nor simple, but its details show traces of life everywhere. It encourages residents to get out of the city, go to the countryside to meet nature, explore nature, gather and make friends...
This is a unique project, as the original site was the lower concrete frame of the rustic viewing platform. The design needs to use the frame structure of the upper part to add new functions while retaining the feature of the exhibition platform to meet the needs of gatherings, activities, accommodation and exhibitions in one complex space. The designer hopes to make a new attempt at reusing idle rural wreck space through this practice. The scheme starts from the simple idea of following the context of the site, deliberating on the architectural form, establishing a close relationship between structure and organic nature, adopting the "light intervention" strategy, harmonizing the relationship between old and new structures, minimizing environmental disturbance, injecting humanity and universality, creating a rhythmic space It is flowing and serene and offers the serene quality of dimensional peace.
The exterior façade is a clear expression of the main space and structure, and the sequential and rich functional spaces are distributed along the main traffic flow lines. In terms of functional planning, and according to the principle of dynamic and static divisions, public facilities such as cafes or restaurants, event halls, outdoor squares, and service spaces are arranged on the first floor, and the second floor is allocated for housing and living. Regions. The first floor and the second floor are linked by a transparent exterior staircase, which creates a shift in the visual experience from the inside to the outside and then back to the inside. Optimizing existing baseline and construction conditions successfully reduces the overall amount of project workload and carbon emissions. The outer skin of red-brown limestone filled in the framework of the reinforced concrete structure increases the temperature of the building, and at the same time, it makes the building more attractive in the mixed and unorganized mountains and plains, with a natural sense of existence without carving.
Considering the integration and circulation between the internal and external environment of the building, it presents a comprehensive environmental awareness. Extensive landscape glass windows not only provide sufficient natural light to the interior space, but also allow residents to overlook the beautiful mountain scenery of the Grand Canyon in western Zhejiang. The reconstructed viewing platform is the same as before. The designer opened a passage to the new building from the other end, downhill from the village road, and the forest path and reddish-brown retaining wall guide the direction. Entering along the path and retaining wall, the nearby walnut forest and distant mountains provide a rich and changing view of the landscape. Slowly, the entrance to the building emerges from the curved turning point of the retaining wall, as if it were a prelude to entering the inner space.
The entrance is flanked by a curved retaining wall and steel roof to form a gray fan-shaped space. One side of the roof door visor is pushed outward to form an angle with the outer wall, 90 degrees to the wall, improving the smoothness of visual flow. The lobby has a high ceiling and is used as an exhibition space for artists' work. The space and line of sight are connected to the corridor on the second floor, maximizing the interaction between the upper and lower spaces. The hall is an open space connected to the balcony and the outdoor patio. All service functions are hidden in the 18-meter-long cabinet to ensure that the public space is simple, orderly and integrated, and provides basic capabilities suitable for hosting gatherings and various events.
The second floor is the living area which consists of the accommodation area and the laundry area. Laundry area equipped with washers and dryers for residents to use. The accommodation area consists of four quadruple rooms and one room for eight people with a total of 24 beds.
